Bar and Dining
Why did you create a Wine Bar – Guinguette-style Restaurant?
Gilles:
“When we took over the campsite, it was obvious to us
Indeed, even though most of our guests come to our campsite to recharge, visit the region, go for walks or even hike on foot, by bike, motorcycle, or horseback; at the end of the day they’re delighted to find a place for sharing, meeting, and outdoor entertainment. The guinguette style then became obvious to us thanks to the magnificent trees and large rocks that give the place a friendly feel. All we had to do was hang up string lights, among other things!”
Why did you call it “Le Bon Gaillard – Wine Bar”?
Delphine:
“During a brainstorming session with our family and friends, this idea came up while looking for a play on words with the village name. ‘Le Bon Gaillard’ seemed like a good idea because it really defines Gilles’s personality. In fact, even the character in the logo looks like him. (laughs)”
I heard locals can come too?
Gilles:
“Yes!!! The idea was also to offer a gathering place for the residents of Montgailhard and surrounding areas. So it creates wonderful encounters, and today there are plenty of stories to tell! In fact, since opening, some tourists regularly come to Ariège but no longer stay at the campsite—they sleep directly at locals’ homes and come back to see us at Le Bon Gaillard. (laughs)”
What word would you use to define this place?
Delphine:
“Family-friendly! Without hesitation!
Indeed, as parents ourselves, we know that going for a drink or eating at a restaurant with children is no easy task… So we wanted to find a foolproof solution so kids can have a blast while parents enjoy time together as adults, with peace of mind and keeping an eye on their children. So, right next to Le Bon Gaillard, we created an area for all ages: playground, pétanque court, ping-pong tables, foosball, board game room with a reading corner… some evenings are even especially for kids!!!”
Where does what you offer on your menu come from?
Gilles:
“AS LOCAL, GOOD, AND HOMEMADE AS POSSIBLE!!!
It’s a choice to work as much as possible with partners and suppliers as close to home as possible.
From craft beer, to cheese and charcuterie boards from our region, fresh salads and grilled meats offered on the daily specials board, to desserts, everything is done in the spirit of producer to consumer!”
Do you offer vegetarian and vegan dishes?
Between grilled meats, fresh salads, pizzas, charcuterie and/or cheese boards, homemade fries, kids’ menus… rest assured, there’s something for everyone!
Finally, what types of entertainment do you offer?
Delphine:
There’s something for everyone!!!
Campfire evenings with roasted marshmallows, Dinner-concerts, Roast chicken and potatoes evenings, Kids’ parties, Foam parties, Outdoor concerts, Live broadcasts of televised events on giant screen, Spit-roasted pig evenings… and even Fireworks on some special evenings!!! And do you want to know a little secret? The owner is the pyrotechnician…”
What are the start and end times for entertainment?
Generally, from 7 PM to 11 PM.
Are all evening entertainment events open access and without reservation?
Yes, except themed meals.
When does entertainment start in the season?
In July-August for most. And some weekends and holidays the rest of the season 🙂
